In fact, when you purchase slab granite, chances are you may even see some color variation from one end of the stone to the other. But that's also a big part of its charm. Your granite countertop will literally be a one-of-a-kind in the world.
Sample. Since each stone is unique, will your slab granite be exactly like the stone sample you see in the store? The simple, straight answer is NO. While the slab of granite in your home will very closely resemble the sample you saw, it won't match it exactly. But remember again, individuality in stone is a good thing.
Sinks. How are we possibly going to accommodate the hole for your sink when granite is such a hard stone? Easy—with technology. We'll cut out the exact shape and size of your sink (or stove) by utilizing a state-of-the-art water jet guided by computer aided design.
Seams. If you're using slab granite as a countertop in your bathroom or as a mantle-piece for your fireplace, you may very well be able to utilize just a single piece of stone. For a custom kitchen countertop, though, you're probably looking at two or maybe even more. Which means you're going to end up with seams. Fortunately, the seams are not very apparent at all. And most people agree, compared to the beauty of the natural granite, the existence of a tiny seam or two seems insignificant.
Of course, if you are concerned about seeing seams, simply choose a lighter color, a more uniform grain, and a more uniform pattern of granite.
